2024: Bauer Lecture with the Honorable Judge Asim Rehman
Cardozo Law Review was pleased to speak with the Honorable Judge Asim Rehman, Commissioner and Chief Administrative Law Judge of the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH).
Honorable Judge Asim Rehman currently serves as the Commissioner of the New York Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings. Appointed in 2022, Rehman holds the distinction of being the first Muslim and South Asian American to lead this vital office. His impressive career spans both public and private sectors, with extensive experience in complex litigation, government investigations, and criminal defense.
Judge Asim Rehman began his service to the city in 2014, when he was appointed General Counsel for the Office of the Inspector General for the NYPD. Since then, he has taken on various key roles, including leading the city’s Law Department and serving as Corporation Counsel, guiding New York through significant challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
In recognition of his leadership and commitment to diversity in the legal profession, Judge Rehman has received numerous prestigious awards, including the South Asian Bar Association of New York (SABANY) Corporate Leadership Award, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) “Best Lawyers Under 40” Award, and the New York City Bar Association’s Diversity & Inclusion Champion Award. His contributions continue to shape the city’s legal landscape, setting new standards of excellence and inclusion.
2023: Bauer Lecture with the Honorable Judge Dale Ho
Cardozo Law Review was pleased to speak with the Honorable Judge Dale Ho of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York about the legacies of civil rights lawyers who became federal judges in New York.
Judge Dale Ho is a United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York. Prior to being appointed as a federal judge, he was the Director of the ACLU’s Voting Rights Project. In that capacity, he supervised the ACLU’s voting rights litigation nationwide, including arguing two cases before the United States Supreme Court. He is the first lawyer since Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to be appointed as an Article III judge directly from the ACLU.

2022: Bauer Lecture with National Economic Council Deputy Director Bharat Ramamurti
Cardozo Law Review was pleased to chat with National Economic Council (NEC) Deputy Director Bharat Ramamurti about his tenure at the NEC during the COVID-19 pandemic and representation in the legal field.
Bharat Ramamurti is a Deputy Director of the NEC. He previously served as a Member of the Congressional Oversight Commission for the CARES Act and as the Managing Director of the Corporate Power program at the Roosevelt Institute. He was the top economic adviser on Senator Elizabeth Warren’s 2020 presidential campaign and served as senior counsel for banking and economic policy in her Senate office. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Yale Law School.
