Episode 2: What’s Wrong with Obergefell
In this episode, Editor-in-Chief, Jared Grubow, sat down with Professor Gregg Strauss (University of Virginia School of Law) to discuss his article, What’s Wrong with Obergefell, which published in Volume 40 Issue 2. Professor Strauss’s article argues that the rhetoric Justice Kennedy used in the Obergefell v. Hodges opinion, glorifying marriage, violates the ideal of public reason (a political philosophy that suggests the government cannot take sides on certain societal issues, such as marriage). In doing so, the opinion is insulting to nonmarital families.
